Choose your neighborhood based on the activities you enjoy.
Lake Norman is the outdoor enthusiasts dream!! Think about it….we have EVERYTHING!! Smooth roads for cycling, a state park for hiking and mountain biking, a gym to fine tune your rock climbing skills and of course….the LAKE!!! There are no excuses for inactivity here!! So, why not choose what neighborhood you live in based on how you like to get your groove on??
Beacon Pointe has been an awesome place to raise my family. Located off the beaten path, in a quiet side of town, traffic options and most importantly….lake access! Our kids have grown up on the lake and have a great appreciation for nature. They’ve been exploring the lake island beaches since they were tadpoles! My husband is an avid cyclist and mountain biker. He loves being able to saddle up right from our garage and head out for a 50 mile ride through the back roads of Iredell and Catawba county. When he is ready for a more technical work out, the mountain bike trails are only a 10 min drive up the road!! What an awesome way to balance the stresses of the corporate world!
I have a couple of favorites of my own. My absolute go-to workout is paddle boarding. This is truly my “zen work-out.” The rhythm and sounds of the water have a way of taking your mind off your troubles. Paddle boarding offers various ways to work out – standing, kneeling, sitting and prone paddling. This is certainly a total body work-out! Last summer, I came up with a “run, paddle, run” work out. It was awesome!!! A short run to the boat docks, a great 45 min paddle, and a short run back home…..it was a perfect way to start my day!!! This year, I’ve got a new toy to add to my work-out regime – an “Elliptigo.”
What…..never heard of it?? Neither did I until I saw someone on it while vacationing in Florida. It’s so cool…..an elliptical work-out, on a bike!! Seriously…..google it!!! If you are a runner, and have knee issues – you need to check this baby out!! It’s like running on air!! The model I have is an 8C, which has 8 gears for some mild hill climbing…..really, it’s awesome!! The roads around my neighborhood are perfect for some moderate rides…..and the looks on peoples faces when they see me “running on my bike”are priceless!! My advice….life is too short to have to travel to do the things you love. Do your research, and live in a neighborhood that offers the amenities that you and your family enjoy!! We all spend too much time in our cars…..you gotta “live your best life!!”
